Cork Clipper

On 02 February the fleet left Singapore with the crew sailing on a range of different entries, Qingdao, Hull & Humber & California. After this the fleet will travel to San Francisco and Panama where we hope a boat (branded Cork) will rejoin the fleet before arriving in to Jamaica. The Cork Clipper sponsors are in negotiation with Clipper Ventures to finalise details.

The project has been promoting Cork as a business and tourism destination at all the stopovers in the Clipper Race and the highlight of the project will be the arrival of the 10 entries in the Clipper Race in to Cork' stated Josephine O' Driscoll, Fáilte Ireland South West . Plans are continuing for the arrival of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race which will arrive in Cork from 01- 04 July for eight days of events.

An outline plan has been developed with the 10 Clipper yachts arriving in to Kinsale 01-03 July. Kinsale will host a family festival including street entertainment, markets, cultural events until 07 July when the fleet leaves Kinsale in a parade of sail in advance of arrival in to the Port of Cork for 3 days of festivities and maritime events. The departure of the Race will be from Cork Harbour on Friday 09 July.

It is expected that the project will deliver over €1million in media coverage for Cork, and to date we have secured extensive global coverage promoting all that is great in Cork.
