RACING HOME FOR EASTER FESTIVAL MALLOW 2011

The theme of the Racing Home for Easter festival is to encourage those who grew up in the Blackwater Valley region but who have since left, to return home for Easter and enjoy all the festivities the town has to offer as well as encouraging local residents and visiting tourists to participate and enjoy.

Our 3 day festival coincides with the traditional Easter racing meeting at Cork Racecourse Mallow, where there’s a great combination of National Hunt racing and flat racing to be enjoyed.

In 2010, the festival provided a much needed boost to the economy of North Cork and the wider Blackwater Valley. Local hoteliers and restaurateurs showed their support for the festival by offering special packages for those coming to experience the atmosphere.

Local businesses and the wider community have been very supportive of the venture, with people not just volunteering their time to assist with the preparations, but despite the economic downturn, businesses came forward in large numbers to sponsor some of the events, or assist with the costs associated with running a 3 day event.

The festival has enjoyed tremendous backing from businesses and organisations, both locally and nationally. Our thanks to Failte Ireland, Cork Racecourse Mallow, C103, Mallow Vintners, Mallow Chamber, Mallow Town Council, Blackwater Valley Tourism, Irish Rail and local businesses and accommodation providers for their support in 2010, we look forward to welcoming you on board for 2011.
