The 31st Beamish Cork Folk Festival will take place between Thursday 30th September and Sunday 3rd October 2010 at venues all over Cork City and everybody is invited.
Highlights of the Beamish Cork Folk Festival include;
• Beoga - Eamon Murray - The Wall Street Journal dubs them the most exciting new traditional band to emerge from Ireland this century.
• Niwel Tsumbu - This Congolese guitarist and singer is one of the most contemporary talented world music artists in Ireland.
• Iarla Ó Lionaird - Well known for his role in the band Afro Celt Sound System, Iarla is also one of the most prominent artists of the sean-nós singing tradition.
• Alan Kelly - Alan Kelly is widely regarded as the finest exponent of the piano accordion in traditional Irish music.
• Eddi Reader - Scottish singer, and former Fair Ground Attraction star, has released her sixth solo album.
• Kilfenora Céilí Band - Put on your dancin' shoes for the Céilí Mór with The Kilfenora Céilí Band. And don't worry if you're CV hasn't got Riverdance on it, there'll be free lessons on the day!
Throughout the festival weekend, audiences can sample everything from the very best fiddle, accordion, pipes and flute players in Ireland to a giant open-air Céilí Mór. As usual the festival will feature concerts from the Cork Blues, Pipes’ and singers’ clubs, plus lectures, children’s events and a music trail featuring 40 free sessions.
